Stunning older Bongos like this used to be very common, but sadly they seem to be running out, hence their prices have held up very well. These older Bongos have in many cases at "top level" been cherished and you can sometimes see them in better condition than even a year 2002 onwards. There is of course quite a difference between a Japan 4 class Bongo hand picked by a top importer vs the rusty examples and low grades that have been made to look good here in the UK.
